Description:


Provides support for multiple internal Access applications, which utilize extensive VBA, COM objects, and pass-through queries. Assignments range from simple data changes to complex module alterations, query tuning and Access to Oracle conversions. The ideal candidate for the is role will be an individual with a solid grasp of Access related tools and coding techniques but also has the aptitude to support multiple applications. Monitors and support daily, weekly and monthly processes to ensuring deliverables are maintained. Has to ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and senior staff and business counterparts.




DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Play a lead development role in the design, development and implementation of processes against operational data sources in a full life-cycle environment.


• Plan, design, develop, support, administer, and monitor in-house Access applications. Interface with an Oracle 10g database via Access-VBA code and pass-through queries


• Plan, design, develop, support, administer, and monitor in-house Access applications


• Develop Access reports, as well as exporting data to other systems (i.e. Excel) for reporting.


• Perform production support activities as required




QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.




• Ability to effectively handle multiple concurrent tasks is a must


• Solid understanding of Access objects and database development concepts


• Ability to work independently


• Demonstrated understanding of relational data in the corporate environment


• Ability to write test instructions for code releases


• Ability to read, write, tune and implement SQL


• Able to tune moderate-to-complex SQL queries for batch processing as well as application development


• Able to troubleshoot and correct application errors


• Ability to work both independently and on a team with limited supervision.


• Good user interaction skills and team skills


• Working knowledge of TOAD, and/or SQL Plus, ErWin, MS Office (Excel, Access)


• Ability to maintain multiple versions of source code using Visual SourceSafe.


• On-Call support of production applications is required.




EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


• High school diploma (or equivalent) is required (college degree is a plus).


• 7+ years of IT experience


• 5+ years experience as an Access (VBA) developer required


• 3-5 years experience with SQL


• Experience with Oracle RDBMS release 9i or higher


• Experience with ODBC connectivity


• Experience with ADO connectivity


• Experience with Cognos reporting is a plus


• Previous experience in the financial industry a plus




COMMUNICATION SKILLS:


• Excellent analytical, and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required, as the position interfaces with end users on a weekly basis.


• Ability to work in a team environment is a must.
