The Texas Environmental Leadership Program is training the next generation of students to tackle our country’s top environmental problems!
We provide the training for smart, motivated college students to assume a high level of responsibility in the environmental community. Interns work side-by-side with Texas’ top environmental researchers, attorneys, scientists, and advocates on issues such as air pollution, open space preservation, urban sprawl, and children's environmental health.
We work with a number of different organizations within the city, like CLEAN, GHASP, Mothers for Clean Air and the Audubon Society. These organizations work on a range of different issues and utilize a number of different tactics to accomplish their goals. Students will learn how to do media outreach, the basics of grassroots organizing, how to do research and analyze data, advocacy, among other skills.
Through the Texas Environmental Leadership Program, students gain an educational experience in democratic citizenship. And they get a chance to face up to society's big problems, take action, and win concrete changes that improve the quality of our lives.
