Overall Objective:


• To build a strong and effective volunteer program where volunteers can contribute to our operations primarily by sorting, boxing and preparing materials for distribution.


Hours:


• Work schedule includes Saturdays from 8:30 to 4:30


• Possible Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30


• Possible Sundays from 1:00 to 4:30





Job Summary:


This position is responsible for providing assistance and direction in the areas of


• Volunteer Management


• Public Relations





Volunteer Management


• Manage all facets of hosting volunteers:


o Make sure volunteer sort room is clean, organized, and prepared for volunteers by having all necessary supplies and equipment in place prior to the groups’ arrival.


o Be available to any and all volunteers present to answer questions, give guidance or meet special needs.


o Manage and organize and overall volunteer work plan with both groups and “regular volunteers” in a way that ensures their time is best utilized.


o Train, prepare, and organize volunteers for service in a way that ensures high levels of productivity.


o Maintain current policies and guidelines on volunteering at Medical Bridges.





Public Relations


• Be a face of Medical Bridges to all volunteers. Present yourself as a professional, friendly, outgoing and welcoming host to all volunteers.





QUALIFICATIONS:





• Some College experience required (or equivalent related experience and education).


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• The ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment.


• Proficiency in building relationships and networking.


• Must be out-going and confident with strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.


• Must have thorough follow-through skills and the ability to finish strong.


• Proficient use of all MS Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and Access.


• Ability to work with others in a professional and diplomatic manner.


• Previous experience working with volunteers desired, but not mandatory.


• Knowledge of medical supplies desired, but not mandatory.
