Job Summary:
As a Director, Business Consulting in Sapient's Trading and Risk Management practice you will play a leadership role in developing client relationships and new business; managing delivery teams, and driving business unit financial goals and measures. This individual should assume the role of the executive client's trusted advisor for and drive innovative strategies to improve business performance. Business consultants at Sapient focus primarily in three key areas:
# Business Problem Solving - Take ambiguous and complex business problems and using research and business assessment capabilities, define the problem, drive innovative ideas, define the opportunity set, and recommend actionable next steps.
# Informed Business Decision Making - Bring rigor a client's decision making process by performing detailed cost/benefit analysis, presenting and evaluating solution options, and driving consensus among key stakeholders. In some instances, we help our clients develop new decision frameworks and governance processes that continue to deliver value far beyond a particular engagement.
# Solution Planning - Define, scope and plan new solutions for clients. This includes determining how to measure business results, modeling current/future business processes, gather business requirements and identifying the organizational changes required to successfully realize the benefits of the solution.
This individual will also be expected to use their unique skills to analyze, structure, negotiate and close complex, long-term contracts with clients and partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
# Vision and Strategy Development - Create a compelling vision and strategy for a client - must be able to then clearly communicate and inspire people within their responsibility with the vision and strategy
# Market Development - Understand the components of marketing and develop an effective marketing strategy for the client
# Business Development - Execute on the components of the Sapient Sales Process by opening & identifying, shaping & responding, closing, negotiating, expanding, and managing senior relationships.
# Relationship Management - Establish and manage long-lasting relationships with prospects and clients. Must be comfortable dealing with senior level business and technology executives in both sales and delivery contexts.
# Delivery Leadership - Lead project teams to shape, propose and implement the most appropriate solutions for our clients. Monitor progress of active projects and proactively identify any potential risks and implement mitigation steps.
# Operational Leadership - Understand and run the day-to-day functions of the client/BU/focus area against targets and metrics, including revenue, profitability, and compliance with corporate policy and procedures
# People Leadership - Build, manage, develop and motivate a group of people that achieve exceptional team performance and individual growth
# Financial Acumen - Understanding of financial statements and the levers within our business
# Participate in making key investment and operational decisions regarding the operations and structure of the business
# Live, support and espouse our core values
Experience Guidelines:
# Must have experience delivering new Energy Trading systems, specifically for Crude and/or Refined Products
# 10+ yrs consulting experience with at least 5 year of managing clients and managing to a revenue/profit target; on a crude/refined products trading system.
# Experience in managing teams of 20+ people
# Business Development: Developed and managed at $3MM+ in annual revenue
# Proven ability to sell and penetrate new markets / clients
# Successful delivery of projects with 20+ people and over $2m in revenue
# Ability to understand, communicate, and manage across the entire project lifecycle
# Broad knowledge of technology trends and relevance to clients business
# Ability to apply technology in an appropriate way to meet business requirements
# Frequent overnight and occasional overseas travel is required
# Must have experience in successfully delivering business system change which involved gaining the buy-in of business users
# Mush have a solid background in process analysis and modeling techniques
Education:
# Ideal candidate will have an MBA or MS degree in related field.
