Director of Engineered Solutions
This Kansas City based company is an independent provider of energy cost reduction consulting and implementation services. We work with our commercial and industrial clients to achieve corporate energy cost reduction goals through the identification and implementation of both supply side and demand side energy consumption and cost reduction solutions.
We are currently seeking experienced Director of Engineered Solutions to join our company. This person will be responsible for providing technical and project development services that support our sales and client services efforts. A successful Director of Engineered Solutions will collaborate with the sales lead and our executive management to develop winning proposals. Project analysis and proposals will carefully consider acceptable margins and risk. The Director of Engineered Solutions will coordinate with the assigned Project Manager to ensure a smooth transition and clear understanding of deliverables during implementation.
Primary Responsibilities Include the Following:
Perform on-site Level One Audits, Investment Grade Audits, and data collection at client properties along with all other duties related to ECM design and detailed energy-efficient project development tasks.
Identifying cost-effective energy efficiency and conservation projects.
Analysis of supply side cost issues relative to energy conservation projects.
Perform detailed engineering and high-level financial and risk analysis to quantify costs savings and other customer benefits.
Estimating project costs, energy savings, and developing ROI calculations.
Develop and assist with technical or financial benchmarking.
Provide detailed development and design for all projects to include validating assumptions from preliminary solution design, building a detailed cost estimate and scope of work for projects, assisting with proposals and other customer communication documents.
Provide technical and financial analysis to assist with developing and presenting reports and conclusions to clients for recommended solutions.
Negotiating project scopes and costs with sub contractors.
Managing construction, as necessary.
Understanding and awareness of building codes.
Performing measurement and verification of savings when necessary.
Requirements:
Candidate must have a strong understanding of energy conservation and energy efficiency products and solutions. Written and verbal communication skills are critical for proposal development and articulating opportunities and benefits at client meetings.
Demonstrated experience with energy savings and economic analysis calculations, writing technical proposals, finding opportunities for savings, contract negotiation, cost estimating and margin analysis are essential.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills. (samples may be requested).
Above-average technical writing skills (samples may be requested).
Strong problem solving skills.
Engineering Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in energy efficiency project development.
Experience with project cost accounting, building simulation and measurement and verification, including related software
Combination of creativity, intuition, and listening skills along with self management and a drive to succeed.
Customer relationship skills and sensitivity to clients needs is critical.
Ability to collaborate with American Energy team and provide regular, updated status reports for executive management.
Ability and Willingness to travel 50% of time with multiple night stays.
